Earlier this year, the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) issued a request for quotations (RFQ) for a feasibility study that could be the United States’ first independent water and power project (IWPP).
The project would include a seawater desal plant with a production capacity of at least 25 MGD (94,625 m3/d), and an optional co-located 500 MW power plant.
Sixteen firms submitted their qualifications in response to the RFQ. They are: Freshwater Unlimited, Atkins, Seven Seas Water, SAIC, Cardno Entrix, MWH Global, AECOM, URS, WorleyParsons, Black & Veatch, Aquifer Group, GHD, Tetra Tech, Arcadis/Malcolm Pirnie, KBR and CH2M Hill.
Shortlisted firms will now be selected for interviews to be conducted by GBRA in January 2013.
