Entropie’s first commercial MED unit, France

Entropie was a thermal desalination company that was founded in France in 1980, and acquired by Veolia Water Solutions and Technologies in 2005. The photo shows the company’s first multiple-effect distillation (MED) unit, designed and built by the company in 1980.

It is a four-effect unit with a production capacity of 30m3/d and a GOR of 6.5 at a top brine temperature of 58°C. The red box below the evaporator is the boiler. The unit was installed on the ship Cayron, which was used for seismic and geophysical studies in oil and gas exploration.
