Boris trained in Rostov-on-Don and Moscow, but has largely worked in Israel and the eastern Mediterranean. Involved in IDE for many years, he remains there as Chief Technology Officer. He has pioneered various innovative RO techniques, including RO cascades for boron removal, 'gentle' plankton pretreatment without chlorination, and direct osmosis membrane cleaning, on which he holds a patent.

Among plants Boris has designed are the Eilat plant, with a membrane life of ten years, and the world's largest SWRO site, at Soreq, both in Israel.

Landmark plants:

  • Soreq (Israel, 411,000m3/d, SWRO) – world's largest SWRO site;
  • Hadera & Ashkelon (Israel, 323,000m3/d & 348,000m3/d, SWRO);
  • Larnaca (Cyprus, SWRO) – special non-chlorinating plankton pretreatment;
  • Eilat (Israel, 8,000m3/d, SWRO) – membrane life of ten years
